ISD 728 School Board · November 3, 2026
Excellent Schools. Thriving Kids. Proud Communities.
I'm Sara Weis, and I'm running for re-election to the ISD 728 School Board — because growing communities become strong communities when schools are excelling, kids are thriving, businesses are growing, and neighborhoods are vibrant.
Let's Grow Together.
The Platform
Growth is good news for our community — with the right planning, it's an opportunity to build even stronger schools. Here's where I'm focused for the next term.
01 · Facilities
Planning new construction, classroom capacity and operational needs around real enrollment projections and mandated requirements.
02 · Programs
Making sure academic programs, electives, and support services expand with the student population.
03 · Activities
Athletics, arts, and clubs offer opportunities beyond academics for students to thrive and communities to rally around, establishing an identity and community pride.
About Sara Weis
I grew up in a small Minnesota community, raised by generations of farmers and teachers. The lessons were simple: if you want something done, get involved and make it happen. I moved to Rogers in 2002, where my family and I put down roots — raising two sons who have since graduated from Rogers High School, excelling in the classroom, participating in various activities, and serving as captains of their hockey teams.
I believe that communities grow and develop through the collaboration, partnership, and hard work of the people who live and work there. I've been active within our community for over 20 years, serving on District Planning Committees & PTO Boards, the ROADS Foundation, Youth Athletic Associations & High School Booster Clubs, and the Arena Commission Board. I've had the privilege of working with our cities, local businesses, and various other organizations to navigate the growth of our communities together.
I believe that responsible leadership comes from demonstrating steady governance and thoughtful decision making. Whether it's setting a budget, hiring a superintendent, or planning for growth, I bring the same approach every time: ask the hard questions, review the data, listen thoughtfully, weigh the tradeoffs honestly, and follow through.
2019-2020
Elected to the ISD 728 School Board the same year voters approved the district's referendum — joined the Facilities Committee (formerly the Project Oversight Committee) and took on the role of MSHSL Representative, both roles held every year since.
2024–25
As Vice Chair of the board, guided the district through a new superintendent search and transition process.
2025-2026
Led development of new board goals, superintendent goals, and an annual process to support board and superintendent accountability.
Next term
Leading the district through projected growth while ensuring academic programming, services, and activities are supported.
